How to Protect Your Hair & Skin from Cold Weather

It’s the most freezing, cold time of the year! Even though the cold weather brings with it a time for seasonal activities and get-togethers, it can be rough on your hair and skin. Try these tips to protect both your hair and skin during the cold weather.

1. Keep your hair covered. Wearing scarves or satin-lined beanies and hats is the best option to protect your hair from cold weather. Make sure your scarf is made from 100% silk or satin so that it will not make your hair dry. You can purchase a satin lined beanie at an online store like, Caheez or you can make your own. 2. Exfoliate your skin regularly. Clearing away dead skin cells is just as important for healthy skin as is moisturizing. Exfoliate your skin naturally with a homemade body scrub and afterwards be sure to moisturize your skin with a homemade body butter. Add conditioning oils like sunflower oil or avocado oil to your scrubs and body butters to nourish your skin with vitamins.

3. Use gentle hand washes and facial soaps that are all natural and won't strip your skin of moisture like Nourish Organics or Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve Shea Butter & Rose Clay Soap. You can also create your own moisturizing shampoo with shea butter.
